More than a place to sleep
Life at BLK147
The goats, the chickens, the fire, the breakfast — this is the part of BLK147 that guests never want to leave.
The Land
A working homestead in the Blue Ridge
BLK147 sits on a quiet stretch of mountain land in the Blue Ridge — part glamping retreat, part working homestead. The property has been shaped slowly and intentionally by Rick and Ann, who moved here from the Finger Lakes to build something rooted in the land.
Guests share the property with a small flock of chickens, a handful of goats, and whatever the season brings. It's the kind of place where mornings feel unhurried and evenings feel earned.
The Field Kitchen
Breakfast, served warm
Every morning starts with a scratch-made biscuit sandwich — five options, ordered the evening before, kept warm and waiting when you're ready. Order by 9:00 PM the night before. Sundays, breakfast is out by 8:00 AM.
Alongside the biscuits, a full continental spread: fresh-baked pastries, cereals, yogurt, oatmeal, grits, hard-boiled eggs, seasonal fruit, and breads. Eat in your pajamas. Take your time. That's the point.
The biscuit sandwiches
- The BLK147 — roasted garlic & rosemary biscuit, soft scrambled eggs, sharp white cheddar, bacon, garlic chives
- Maple & Thyme — soft scrambled eggs, sausage, Parmesan, maple-thyme butter
- Quiche Lorraine — bacon & Gruyère quiche, garlic chives, cracked black pepper
- The Garden — soft scrambled eggs, roasted mushrooms, fresh mozzarella, garlic chives
- The Southern — thick-cut fried bologna, soft scrambled egg, sharp cheddar, Dijon-maple butter
The Fire Pit
Evenings around the fire
The shared fire pit sits near the Field Kitchen, ready each evening with firewood provided. Pull up a chair, pour something warm, and let the night come in slowly.
It's a gathering place — for guests who want company, and equally good for those who just want the fire.
The Property
Find Your Way Around
The Hearth is the heart of the property — where you park, pick up breakfast, and gather around the fire. Each tent is tucked into the forest canopy just beyond.
The Residents
Goats, chickens & good company
The goats and chickens are part of daily life at BLK147. They roam the property during the day, do their thing, and occasionally wander close enough to say hello. Kids love them. Adults do too — they just won't admit it.
This is a working homestead, not a petting zoo. But if you catch them at the right moment, the goats are pretty charming.
